Travel Recomendations
As most us use our favourite GPS system you can input "24 Vern Court, Coboconk, Ontario". If that doesn't work try "24 Vern Court, Norland, Ontario". We don't know why sometimes it works one way and sometimes the other, I blame Loki.
Highway 400 from the GTA
We do not recommend Highway 400 over the top of Lake Simcoe. The easterly roads after Lake Simcoe aren't great and going through Orillia eats up a lot of time. Keep in mind you'll also be sharing the road with cottage goers heading up to the Muskokas! If you want to take your time however, by all means. There's a lot of great watersport supply stores in Orillia as you move along Hwy 12 (Atherly Rd. / Trans Canada Hwy.)
Highway 407 from the GTA
If you don't mind spending a bit of cash, you can travel to the west end of Hwy. 407, its the most relaxing route with relatively sparse traffic. You will head north up Hwy. 115, to Hwy. 35 which jogs around Lindsay and passes right by the turnoff to our cottage access road. Before a long weekend, this is realistically, the only sanity-saving way around the inevitable traffic jams in and around Toronto.
Highway 404 from the GTA
Although this route may seem a bit slower, it fairly fast with access from Hwy. 407 or Hwy. 401. We use this route very often as the scenery is interesting and there's quite a few places to stop. You'll end up on regional roads 32 east, Hwy 48 north, Trans Canada Hwy., County Rd. 48, and north on Hwy. 35 that passes right by the turnoff to our cottage access road. (Just use your GPS, and watch your turns!)
Sideroads
We have had a few guests who prefer the scenic side roads which crisscross through the varied terrain of the region. We wholeheartedly recommend this if you have the time; especially with a convertible near sunset in the summer!
